The Environmental Monitoring and Reporting Branch (EMRB) at the Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) is looking for a highly motivated, well organized summer student to aid in the collection of stream water samples to support a provincial scale stream water monitoring network.
Duties: You will assist Ministry scientists and field staff in the collection of water samples, sample submission to the laboratory, data entry, data/report summaries and maintenance of scientific instrumentation.

Qualifications:
o Applicants must be pursuing a post-secondary education in an environmental science/studies, engineering or a related field;
o Ability to carry out field work under inclement conditions; comfortable working in and around water;
o Familiar with environmental sampling procedures and protocols;
o Experience working with and maintaining scientific (i.e. water quality) instrumentation and/or laboratory equipment;
o Working knowledge of computer software including Word and Excel. Experience working with ArcGIS, relational databases (e.g. Access) and statistical analysis software would be an asset;
o Good interpersonal and written/oral communication skills; attention to detail, ability to organize and prioritize work and work independently and in a team environment;
o Applicants must have a valid Ontario driver’s license;
o Valid first aid and CPR, WHMIS training and defensive driving an asset.
